One small step for a child

Hey there bloggers today we had another session of SLJ this time the question was this.
For this activity, let’s imagine that you were Neil Armstrong.
On your blog, write a short poem describing how you felt when you first set foot on the moon. Here is a link to some different poetry forms.
*Remember to attribute any images that you borrow from the internet or from other people.
*Please check out the Eye-Catching Blog Posts page for ideas!
Here is my poem
Dark like a black bat

Scaling New Heights

Hi there bloggers
We did another session of SLJ this time I will get points for this post so my question I got was this
On your blog, write a short explanation of what the charity does. For this activity, please select a charity that you are interested in. You may choose your own or use one from our list (below). Read about the charity. I chose SCPA, the SCPA is an organisation they help animals that need help and also find them new homes to have a happy life. They also set up a few stores to help you get what you need to take care of your pets. There name also stands for Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.

Summer learning journey

Hi there bloggers. Today we had a visit from megan who is part of the summer learning journey  we registered for it, and then she made us go onto the weekly activities from the site my question for it was. For this activity, please create four new similes. You can use the starters below or you can make up your own.

… is as fast as… (eg: The brand new Ferrari is as fast as a lightning bolt)

… is as tall as…

… is as small as…

… is beautiful like...

On your blog, share the similes that you have created with your readers.
the  cheetah is as fast as a fighter jet
the tree is as tall as a giant
the ant is as small as an amoeba
the sunset moth is beautiful like  Aphrodite the goddess of beauty.

Choir concert day

Hello there bloggers!
On the 26th of November we had our choir concert at the Town Hall, after months of practise. We had to be there at 6:45 pm not am and it ended at 10:00. We all were really excited and we all were talking and yelling, some people were screaming and running. We were told to sit down and just whisper and listen to the instructions. We then were put into lines and were put onto stage we then were buzzing with excitement and some people waved at the people that came to watch them. We also had a kapa haka, music and violin groups in between our songs. When it finished a choir teacher came up and gave a speech then we were put into the supper room. My favorite song was The Phantom of the Opera, I was really proud of my self for not getting scared about going and I felt really excited for what I was about to do. What an amazing night.

High jump

Hi there Bloggers!
Lately this week we have been doing High jump to practise for our Athletics Day. We had lots of fun the middle school and the seniors both had separate times to do high jump at break time. Some people like me were able to jump 1.09 I was told to sit down once because I had hurt my foot, I then watched my friends do the other jumps. Then Bjorn did the High jump  by himself while we were eating our lunch. He jumped 1.50 and we all cheered him on.  We do this rotation that is Sprints, Long jump and of course High jump. Sorry I couldn't put on photos. Bye blog you later! (P.S I will try to add photos)

Hey there Bloggers!

When we were done all the schools went in. While we were waiting for Mr Lambert to get ready some people were chatting while I was reading. We sang and practised the songs that had something wrong or needing practice. When we had our break time we played touch. When we were called in we sang some more songs and I almost fainted I was taken outside and I recovered. I went back inside and I sang the songs that they were doing or what was left of the songs. When we finished we packed up a bit then left we said thank you to Waikowhai Intermediate and went back to school. On the way there we played on Molly Green's playground. When we went to school we played on the playground a chillaxed then the day was over.

There we went on a search for things around the garden, the fastest people to do it and do the most right will get a prize, our team just wanted to do it fast so then we came third which we were fine with and then we waited for all the other teams to come back.
Then we went back onto our buses then after another hour and a half we went to Otorohanga walkway to do another hunt but this time we split up and wrote down the answers, after we met up we gave in our papers we had lunch. After we went to Otorohanga memorial park then we went off to the bus again. Holiday narrative

Hi bloggers!!

In the last few weeks that I have been at school we did a narrative based on our holidays. We had to exaggerate it though so then it could be more exciting. If you want to see mine look down below. My narrative was about my tennis club and the sun exploded and all the lava was going to engulf the earth.
I was excited at first when they said that we were doing a narrative but when I found out we had to base it on our holiday I was disappointed but then I started doing it it turned out to be a lot of fun. I can't wait till we do another.

MANUKAUS ASSEMBLY

MANUKAUS ASSEMBLY
Hi bloggers today we had our assembly. We did a play it was called Mayhem on mars. It was about kindness, it was really funny. When we first started we were very nervous because we went  in front of the whole school, we relaxed once we got under way. When we got to the hip hop part we all got on our hats and started dancing it was very embarrassing but we went through it without stopping. I wore a hat that I used for last years production. My favorite part was when we did the play. If you would like to see some photos look down below.

I hope you enjoyed these facts about our assembly. Until next time! BLOG YOU LATER!

My experience on Choir dress rehearsal

Hi there bloggers!
Yesterday I went to a Choir rehearsal. I am in the school choir because I thought it was going to be fun.
When we got there we read or books to pass the time. When Mr Lambert (Mr Lambert is our main conductor for the choir) arrived we started singing some songs Mr Lambert gave us some tips and told us what to do.  When it was morning tea we went outside but in at first it rang one time that was for five minute eat then again for play time. When it ended we went back inside to do some more songs. Our pianist was really amazing she could play all the songs without any thing wrong and also she could play like the music we first practiced with. When it ended we walked back up to school.
So that was my experience of the Choir rehearsal
(P.S the songs were called The eye of the tiger, Rockin robin, In winter, The moon, A Te Tarakihi, Ke Manuia Te Aho and a new song called les miserables. Also the schools that went were Waikowhai primary, Hay park, Hillsborough, Mt Eden, North coat, Arohoe and River dale)

Gumboot friday!

Hi guys, Rio here today I am blogging about Gumboot Friday. If you want to know about gumboot friday, gumboot friday is to raise money for people with not positive mental health people with nonpositive mental health suffer from not believing in themselves. Take this for example when they don’t go out of bed because they don’t think they can go through a day mental health is about your feelings. On gumboot friday (5th of april) we made some cards to support people who had non positive  mental health they were also meant to uplift people which worked because someone called Sally and the women on the other end was teary because her son had some non positive mental health so they were uplifting. Some cards had quotes on them supportive quotes. This idea came from a student that did a form called “Healthy Puketapapa student questionnaire” (Neeve) she wrote why don’t we write letters to people and post them? We did that in eight groups and posted them. This related to our goal for the year Hauora-Well Being because wellbeing is helping people out and doing good choices and we did that with those letters. I think that we should do this every term so then people that feel down again will feel better. Here are some photos↓

The Tread Lightly caravan

The Tread Lightly caravan😀
If you want to know what I am talking about and you're thinking right now "what is the Tread Lightly caravan?" Well I will tell you, the caravan is about helping the environment and other things like drains and waterways. We learned that wet lands slow down water. It also stops a bit of tsunamis like if it rains a lot on the mountains and come down its muddy right? Well the wetlands slow the water down and clean it so that's how they slow down a small tsunami. We also went on a hunt to find out how many drains are in our school, my team got to 42. When we came back inside we talked to each other and added everyone's numbers with another groups then added it again this was the equation 42+51+48+61=202. We also got to do some VR, we watched three videos. Once we finished we said thank you and then went off.
I have some photos have a look↓
See ya! Blog you later😃!

leadership and house captains!

Hi guys! We are back at school at Waikowhai Primary School and in the first week, look at what happened!
The Leaders and House captains were chosen. It was really exciting and fun to see who were the leaders and house captains. If you would like to see who they are here you go.
First, the leaders
Then the house captains

Then after we got some photos, we changed back into our school clothes. when we had finished we were really surprised when we were chosen. We were so excited and couldn't wait to do leadership or be a house captain.
If you are a house captain you can give kids house points in singing practice. Also on Athletics Day they will put on their T-shirts and encourage the juniors to try their best.
The leaders play games with the juniors or middle school during morning tea. On cross country day we cheer on the juniors and other people, then it's our race. It's really fun!
See ya blog you later!
