Hi guys, Rio here today I am blogging about Gumboot Friday. If you want to know about gumboot friday, gumboot friday is to raise money for people with not positive mental health people with nonpositive mental health suffer from not believing in themselves. Take this for example when they don’t go out of bed because they don’t think they can go through a day mental health is about your feelings. On gumboot friday (5th of april) we made some cards to support people who had non positive mental health they were also meant to uplift people which worked because someone called Sally and the women on the other end was teary because her son had some non positive mental health so they were uplifting. Some cards had quotes on them supportive quotes. This idea came from a student that did a form called “Healthy Puketapapa student questionnaire” (Neeve) she wrote why don’t we write letters to people and post them? We did that in eight groups and posted them. This related to our goal for the year Hauora-Well Being because wellbeing is helping people out and doing good choices and we did that with those letters. I think that we should do this every term so then people that feel down again will feel better. Here are some photos↓

The Tread Lightly caravan
The Tread Lightly caravan😀
If you want to know what I am talking about and you're thinking right now "what is the Tread Lightly caravan?" Well I will tell you, the caravan is about helping the environment and other things like drains and waterways. We learned that wet lands slow down water. It also stops a bit of tsunamis like if it rains a lot on the mountains and come down its muddy right? Well the wetlands slow the water down and clean it so that's how they slow down a small tsunami. We also went on a hunt to find out how many drains are in our school, my team got to 42. When we came back inside we talked to each other and added everyone's numbers with another groups then added it again this was the equation 42+51+48+61=202. We also got to do some VR, we watched three videos. Once we finished we said thank you and then went off.
I have some photos have a look↓

leadership and house captains!
Hi guys! We are back at school at Waikowhai Primary School and in the first week, look at what happened!
The Leaders and House captains were chosen. It was really exciting and fun to see who were the leaders and house captains. If you would like to see who they are here you go.
First, the leaders↓
Then the house captains↓
Then after we got some photos, we changed back into our school clothes. when we had finished we were really surprised when we were chosen. We were so excited and couldn't wait to do leadership or be a house captain.
If you are a house captain you can give kids house points in singing practice. Also on Athletics Day they will put on their T-shirts and encourage the juniors to try their best.
The leaders play games with the juniors or middle school during morning tea. On cross country day we cheer on the juniors and other people, then it's our race. It's really fun!

Our Gerhard maps
On Wednesday 22 August 2018 we made some maps about some places. Mine is right below. You can press full screen if you want.
Do you want to know how far Awahono School is from Waikowhai Primary? It is 1057 KM that is a long way. By the way you also have to use a ferry and it will take 15h 37mins.
Here is how we got to google my maps press on the marker to get the link. But you won't have any of other people's also you can create your own map. You can also see the other slides so you can do the same work as we did.
All done. Blog u later!

Stop motion animation
Today the 10th of august 2018 we made some stop motion video and we could use sound or not. I made mine without sound we used play-do to make the animation we could use Lego mine was about a worm who likes to eat dung and a dragon tries to kill him and also tries to destroy the dung. So the worm fought the dragon this also has the worms child fighting the dragon child.
I think mine was good because it things that happen in the future and has things about how it first started.
Next time I will try to use sound and make it a bit shorter.
Here is mine.

Our zoo trip
On the 14th of June we went to the Auckland zoo we saw a lot of animals and learned some facts here is one of them a Turatara only needs to breath once an hour and has three eyes. Here are some photos and videos we had a great time. We went into the bug lab to find out things about bugs then we went back into the zoo we saw a white rhino they are endangered but we did not see it face to face so we only saw his behind.the reason why we went to the zoo is because we needed to learn about endangered animals. we had a session with John one of the zoo keepers and a teacher we had him and took us into the zoo.
